“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” — Ephesians 1:3
As believers, we are called to live a life of faith with Jesus. Scripture reminds us that in Christ we have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing. Yet the journey of walking by faith—living in love with Jesus and in the unity of the Holy Spirit—is often easier said than done.
Many times we try to live the Christian life in our own strength, relying on our own understanding. But the Bible teaches that a true faith walk begins with God—through His love, His Spirit, and His grace working within us.
This reflection explores what it means to walk by faith with Jesus, to live in His love, and to grow together in unity through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Suit Up with the Essentials of Christian Living
Ephesians 4:1 reminds us: “I urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Before walking, we prepare. Like a soldier suiting up, we equip ourselves with the foundational principles of Christian ethics: humility, gentleness, patience, love, and unity. Prayer is key. Paul prays that we know the hope of our calling and that the Holy Spirit enlightens our hearts. Knowledge alone is not enough—faith grows when it reaches the heart.Pause and reflect. Pray for the Holy Spirit to illuminate your mind and heart as you live your calling.
Seated with Christ, Living by Faith
Even though we are on earth, our true position is in Christ, seated with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).Our flesh and soul may struggle, but our spirit, guided by the Holy Spirit, remains steadfast. Faith and prayer go hand in hand. In every situation, whether ordinary or challenging, we rely on God, trusting Him to work in His perfect timing. “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1
Love, Power, and Unity
Three principles to guide your faith walk:
- Motivation of Love: Let the love of Christ drive all that you do. Ephesians 3:17-18 reminds us to be rooted and grounded in His love, comprehending its breadth, length, height, and depth.
- Power of the Holy Spirit: Flow in your spiritual gifts. Serve with the abilities God has given you.
- Unity of the Church: Build and maintain harmony. Work together with leaders, prophets, pastors, and teachers, complementing one another in love.
Think of it like hiking a mountain—you don’t go unprepared. Suit up with prayer, love, spiritual gifts, and guidance from God’s family.
Living Worthy of Our Calling
Walking worthy of our calling is not about perfection but faith, love, and purpose. Speaking truth in love, encouraging one another, and serving with our gifts reflect Christ’s love in action. “From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” — Ephesians 4:16 The love of Christ motivates us, the Spirit empowers us, and the unity of the Church guides our journey. All of this works together to build Christ’s body, glorifying God in all things.
Final Thought
Walking by faith with Jesus is a life seated in Him, yet active in prayer, service, and fellowship. It is a journey of love, power, and unity, flowing with the Spirit and guided by the Word.Galatians 5:16-25: “Walk in step with the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Live by faith, serve in love, and grow in unity, trusting that God is working all things for His glory.
