Have you ever had access to something incredible… and didn’t even realize it?
A few years ago, I had a credit card that came with access to over 1,500 airport lounges around the world. Lounges with food, drinks, quiet workspaces, even showers. The kind of places you assume are only for business-class travelers.
Here’s the problem:
For a year and a half, I had no idea.
So there I was, sitting at crowded airport gates, paying for snacks, looking for a power outlet… while I had full access to comfort, rest, and provision just a few steps away.
When I finally found out? I used it every trip. Sometimes I’d visit two or three lounges in one airport just to make up for lost time.
Funny story. It’s a little painful.
But also deeply spiritual.
Because many believers live the same way.
“Sometimes as Christians, we don’t fully grasp what God has already given us.”
We settle for the noisy, crowded “waiting area” of life when, in Christ, we’ve already been given access to so much more.
What Ephesians Wants Us to See
The first half of Ephesians isn’t a list of instructions — it’s a revelation of identity. Before Paul talks about how to live, he reminds us who we are and what we already have.
“To who we are before the what we do.”
Ephesians 1:3 — God “has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”
Has blessed. Past tense. Not “will bless you if you perform well.” Not “might bless you if you try harder.”
Already given. Already yours. Already secured — in Him.
Redeemed — A New Legal Reality
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
In Paul’s time, redemption wasn’t a churchy word. It was a marketplace language. It meant someone paid a price to buy a person out of slavery and give them a new legal standing.
That’s the picture.
Jesus didn’t just forgive you emotionally.
He changed your legal position spiritually.
You are no longer owned by guilt.
No longer defined by your past.
No longer under the authority of sin.
You belong to Him now.

Grace — Lavish, Not Leftover
Paul says our forgiveness comes:
“In accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us.”
Lavished. Not measured. Not rationed. Not “barely enough.”
God doesn’t forgive like someone scraping the last bit out of a jar. He forgives according to the wealth of His grace.

And when you truly understand grace, you don’t want to run toward sin — you want to run toward the One who was so generous with you.
Chosen on Purpose
“In Him we were also chosen…”
You are not an afterthought. Not an accident. Not Plan B.
Before you ever searched for God, He had already set His heart on you.
Ephesians 1:4–5

Sealed — Marked as His
When you believed, something happened:
“You were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.”
In a trading city like Ephesus, a seal meant ownership, protection, and authority. Once a seal was placed, no one had the right to tamper with what belonged to someone else.
That’s the image God uses for you.
You are marked.
You are claimed.
You are protected.
You are under His authority.

This is why we can pray with confidence. Not fearfully. Not timidly. But knowing we belong to God’s household.
“You’re not holding onto God for dear life — He is holding onto you.”
Don’t Miss What’s Already Yours
The real tragedy wouldn’t be missing airport lounge snacks.
It would be reaching the end of life and realizing we lived like spiritual paupers while carrying Kingdom authority, grace, access, and identity all along.
Not because God withheld it.
But because we never understood it.
Final Thought
You are not trying to earn a place with God.
You are learning to live from the place He already gave you — in Christ.
Don’t sit outside when you’ve been given access.
Today, remind yourself:
I am redeemed.
I am chosen.
I am sealed.
I belong to God.
Walk into your day with that confidence.
Take a quiet moment.
Where have you been living like you’re still outside… when God has already given you access?
Are you striving to earn what Jesus has already secured?
Are you carrying guilt He has already forgiven?
Are you praying timidly when you’ve been given authority?
Sit with this truth:
You are redeemed.
You are chosen.
You are sealed.
Let that move from your head to your heart before you pray.
A Short Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to see what You’ve already given me in Christ.
Help me live from identity, not insecurity… from grace, not guilt… from authority, not fear.
Thank You for redeeming me, choosing me, and sealing me with Your Spirit.
Teach me to walk in the fullness of what is already mine in You.
